Manitoba-bred Incentive Program

The Manitoba Incentive Program will sponsor the following stake races in 2010:
  • $40,000 CTHS Sales Stakes - 2 year old Canadian-bred, Manitoba Division sale graduates
  • $50,000 Buffalo Stakes - Manitoba-bred 2 year olds
  • $30,000 Frank Arnason Sire Stakes - Manitoba sired 3 year old colt/gelding
  • $30,000 Hazel Wright Sire Stakes - Manitoba sired 3 year old fillies
  • $20,000 Gold Strike Mile - 3 yr old colt/geldings, by MB registered sire, mare resident in MB throughout pregnancy
  • $20,000 Gold Strike Mile- 3 year old fillies, by Manitoba registered sire, mare resident in MB throughout pregnancy
  • $50,000 R.C. Anderson - 3 year old Manitoba-bred fillies
  • $50,000 J.W. Sifton - 3 year old Manitoba-bred colt/geldings
  • $50,000 Agassiz Stakes - 3 & up Manitoba-bred colt/gelding
  • $50,000 Manitoba Distaff - 3 & up Manitoba-bred fillies/mares

Diamond Nomination is due the afternoon of the CTHS Yearling Sale

Star 1st nomination is due March 1st of the year the foal is born

Plus Sired by accredited Manitoba stallions

Arrow Nomination due Tuesday May 11

Stallion owners register into Sire Program by January 31 at a cost of $300 or a late fee of $500 between February 1 - December 1

The Manitoba Incentive Program will pay out the following purse supplements to Manitoba-breds in 2010:

To qualify for purse supplements:

  • Manitoba-bred 2, 3, 4 and 5 year old horses must have Canadian papers and meet class/purse level criteria.
  • Manitoba-bred 2, 3 and 4 year olds entered in claiming races will have a claiming price of 25% higher. This does not include fillies entered in open races where they already receive a 25% advantage.
  • Purse supplements are not paid on stake races and purses over $16,000.

To qualify for a Breeder/Stallion Award:

  • For Breeders residing in Manitoba: To qualify for breeder awards, horse must be foaled in Manitoba and have Canadian Registration papers.
  • For Breeders residing outside of Manitoba: To qualify for breeders awards, mare must be bred to a stallion registered to the Manitoba Sire Program and foaled in Manitoba and have Canadian Registration papers..
  • Horse must be 2, 3, 4 or 5 years old to earn awards in Class 1, 2, and 3 finishing 1st; any age to earn awards in Class 4 and Class 5 finishing 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

The CTHS board reviews the Manitoba Incentive Program monthly and adjustments may be made accordingly.
